Distinguished Service Medal

The Distinguished Service Medal (D.S.M.) is a decoration. Different versions exist for different countries.

Distinguished Service Medal (Australia): Awarded for distinguished leadership in action.
Distinguished Service Medal (United States): The US DSM is for leadership, but does not require active military service, unlike the British and Australian DSMs which are only awarded for military action.
Distinguished Service Medal (Army): a military award of the United States Army for exceptionally meritorious service
Distinguished Service Medal (United Kingdom): Formerly awarded to NCOs for distinguished leadership in action at sea. Now merged with Distinguished Service Cross.
